The locking device (2) is particularly intended for use with a sliding window, door or similar system (1). It incorporates in its housing (15) a slider (18) connected to a hooked bolt (22) engaging with a catch (29) attached firmly to the frame (30). The slider is held by a locking device (34) with a return spring, the locking device (34) being a unit separate from the slider (18).
