PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a driving support device and a driving support method which can reduce too much or too little driving support. SOLUTION: The driving support device 1 includes: driving state determination means for determining whether a driving state for a first period including the present time is normal by comparing it with a driving state in the past stored for a period longer than the first period; driving tendency determination means for determining whether a driving tendency for a second period longer than the first period is good; menu selection means for selecting a driving support menu on the basis of the result of the determination by the driving state determination means and the result of the determination by the driving tendency determination means; item selection means for selecting a driving support item from the driving support menu selected by the menu selection means on the basis of an input by a driver; and driving support execution means for executing a driving support corresponding to the driving support item selected by the item selection means.
