PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To improve focus detection accuracy.SOLUTION: The present invention includes: a microlens; a light receiving section that receives incident light obtained through the microlens; a waveguide used for receiving light in the light receiving section and installed between the microlens and the light receiving section; and a detection section that detects a focus using an output value from the light receiving section. Light from such a direction as to have a predetermined angle, of the incident light obtained through the microlens, is guided to the light receiving section by the waveguide. The technology is applicable to an imaging apparatus that performs an autofocus.
