PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a new anti-HIV agent which inhibits the transcriptional process from proviral-DNA to RNA. SOLUTION: The anti-HIV agent includes a compound represented by formula I [in the formula, R<SP POS="POST">1</SP>is H, and R<SP POS="POST">2</SP>is an alkoxy group having one to three carbons, or R<SP POS="POST">1</SP>and R<SP POS="POST">2</SP>together form a -O-(CH<SB POS="POST">2</SB>)<SB POS="POST">2</SB>-O-ring, and R<SP POS="POST">3</SP>is H or a 1-3C alkyl group].
