A battery monitoring device is provided with a current detection unit for detecting the current flowing through a battery; a voltage detection unit for detecting the terminal voltage of the battery; a temperature detection unit for detecting the temperature of the battery; an internal resistance increase rate calculation unit for calculating the rate of increase in the internal resistance of the battery on the basis of the detected current, terminal voltage, and temperature; and a calculation invalidity time setting unit for setting a prescribed calculation invalidity time according to the characteristic curve of the internal resistance increase rate. During an invalidity period from the start of the charging or discharging of the battery to the elapsing of the calculation invalidity time, the calculation results for the internal resistance increase rate are invalidated. |
