[Class 35.] Two shafts are normally driven in synchronism by individual electric motors but the relative phase angle between the shafts is altered by the angular displacement of brushes on a commutator machine which either supplies or constitutes one of the motors. As shown in Fig. 3 two induction motors 30, 29 are used for driving respective crank shafts of a pump, the rotors of these motors being fed from a polyphase commutator machine having two sets of brushes 27, 28 one movable and supplying the rotor of one of the driving motors 30 and the other stationary and supplying the rotor of the other motor 29. The phase angle between the shafts is altered by angular displacement of the brushes 27.</p> |
