PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a gas sensor allowing excellent responsibility to be obtained although at least a part of a gas ventilation part of a detection element is positioned further on a base end side than a tip end of a main body metal fitting.SOLUTION: A protector 160 is inserted in the inside of a main body metal fitting 110 in a state that at least a part of a gas introduction hole 167 is positioned further on a base end side than a tip end 110b of the main body metal fitting 110. The main body metal fitting 110 is formed of its own tip side inner surface 113b and an outside surface 160d of the protector 160, and is provided with a gas introduction space S2 for introducing detection object gas (exhaust gas G) into the gas introduction hole 167 of the protector 160 from the tip side further than the main body metal fitting 110. A gas ventilation part 123 of a detection element 120 has a base end 123c positioned further on the base end side than a tip 167b of the gas introduction hole 167, and a tip 123b of the gas ventilation part 123 is positioned further on a tip side than a base end 167c of the gas introduction hole 167. |
