Apparatus for determining a quantity of a pharmaceutical formulation in an inhaler canister, the apparatus comprising: a support assembly with a support element and a canister receiving element, where the support-assembly defines a pivot about which the canister receiving-element is free to pivot; a biasing element configured such that the receiving-elements centre of gravity is not coincident with the pivot; and a measurement component for determining a rest angle of the receiving-element The receiving-element may comprise a metered dose inhaler actuator housing. The measurement component may include a graphical, alphabetical or numerical scale arranged adjacent to the receiving-element. Preferably the receiving-element comprises a base wall portion, a canister retaining formation extending at a first side of the base-wall portion and a stabilising portion arranged at an opposed second side of the base-wall portion, where the base-wall portion comprises at the second side a concave surface, where the support element comprises an upstanding rod having an upper end and where the receiving-element is mounted on the rod with the concave surface in contact with the rod upper end and the stabilising portion is configured such that the centre of gravity of the receiving-element is below the upper end of the rod. |
