PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To improve handleability of a recording device by preventing a sensor which detects a form being inserted from sending out a form presence signal even when a cover which exposes a form transport path is opened, and avoiding an unnecessary operation of the recording device.SOLUTION: A medium transport device comprises: a device body including transport means of transporting a medium; a cover which is provided to open and close a part of the device body, and opened to expose at least a part of a medium transport path for transporting the medium; medium detection means of detecting the medium passing through the medium transport path; and detection disabling means of keeping the medium detection means in a non-detection state in which the medium is not detected when the cover is opened. |
