PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide an optical packet signal generation device and an optical packet signal generation method for stably outputting a correct output optical packet signal even when a light intensity modulator has instability accompanied by the unintended drift of an operation point, and even when the traffic load of an optical packet string or the mark ratio of data in a packet fluctuates.SOLUTION: In an optical packet signal generation method using a light intensity modulator 21 for generating an optical packet signal strength-modulated into a bit pattern, monitor light for monitoring the operation point of the light intensity modulator 21 is inserted into the input side of the light intensity modulator 21 only in a time zone existing between the optical packet signals to be generated when any optical packet signal is not generated, and input to the light intensity modulator 21, and the operation point of the light intensity modulator 21 is monitored and stabilized by using the monitor light to be output from the light intensity modulator 21 as a monitor signal. |
