摘要 Errors that can be detected as a result of the mapping of transmission data from its physical form back to its logical form can be considered in addition to the errors detected by using an error detection technique (e.g., a conventional CRC technique), thereby allowing fewer error detection/recovery bits (error recovery data or bits) to be used as would be possible by using the error detection technique alone. In other words, less error recovery data would be needed to achieve a given level accuracy using conventional techniques. As a result, overhead associated with adding error detection/recovery bits can be reduced.

A method of transmission of data based on a desired level of accuracy for the transmission of data from a sender to a receiver, wherein the method is implemented at least partly by a device, and wherein the method comprises: mapping the data to physical data for transmission by the sender to the receiver; and generating transmission data at least by using an error detection technique with a reduced number of error bits that are added to the physical data for error detection and/or recovery, wherein the reduced number of error bits is less than a full number of error bits that would be required to achieve the desired level of accuracy for the transmission of the transmission by using the same error detection technique.
