634,049. Window regulators. UTLEY, T. March 19, 1948, No. 8186. [Class 20 (iii)] Sliding window operating apparatus of the kind comprising a vertical screw-threaded rod engaging a nut attached to the window, comprises a connecting member rigidly secured at one end to the bottom of the window, the other end being slotted to receive the medial portion of a nut provided with upper and lower flanges between which the said slotted end is located, rotation of the nut being prevented by flats formed on the said medial portion, the forked connecting member being free to move laterally with respect to the nut. In the form shown, a forked connecting member c is rigidly secured to the window a, a nut j, provided with top and bottom flanges j<SP>1</SP>, engaging between the arms of the member c and being prevented from turning therein by flats j<SP>2</SP>. A screw-threaded rod h passes through the nut and is rotatable, through bevel gears g and e, by a handle which is placed on shaft f. Such rotation causes the nut to move up or down, so raising or lowering the window. The forked member c is free to move laterally on the nut and so maintains its right-angle position with respect to rod h, thus allowing the wear on the nut to be evenly distributed over its working surfaces. |
