PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a pedestrian detection device capable of more accurately detecting a pedestrian, a pedestrian detection method, a program and a medium.SOLUTION: A pedestrian detection device 1 includes: imaging means 2 which images a detection object area and outputs an image; moving amount detection means 3a which detects a moving amount of the detection object by comparing the last image and the current image; opened legs determination means 3b which makes an opened legs determination to determine whether the legs of the detection object are opened; stride detection means 3c which detects a stride of the opened legs when the opened legs determination result is positive; close legs determination means 3d which makes a closed legs determination to determine whether the legs of the detection object are closed at a timing based on the moving amount and the stride; pedestrian detection means 3e which detects the detection object as a pedestrian when the close legs determination result is positive.
