The method involves cooling a multilayer covering part (1) by cooled compressed air during introduction of a mechanical weakening (5) into an area of the covering part. Cooling air is conducted into the covering part through an inlet opening that is formed in a carrier layer (3). An outlet opening is formed in an area of the carrier part and provided for discharging the cooled air from the covering part, where the mechanical weakening is introduced between the inlet and outlet openings by laser. An independent claim is also included for a multilayer covering part.
