<p>The method involves determining whether a risk of collision with an approaching motor car is high or not by a parked motor car (S104). A warning signal is transmitted (S105) to the approaching motor car by the parked motor car if the risk of collision is high. A reaction to the signal is monitored by the approaching motor car. A maneuver is performed (S107) by the parked motor car to avoid or reduce collision damage if no reaction to the signal by the approaching motor car. Position of the parked motor car in a parking space is adjusted (S108) when parking operation is completed. An independent claim is also included for a device for avoiding or reducing a parked motor car damage caused by a collision with an approaching motor car.</p>
