The present invention relates to petroleum resin and a preparation method thereof. More specifically, the present invention relates to petroleum resin which has applicability as a tackifier and also excellent compatibility with a base polymer. Therefore, it can be applied to a tape as well as a hot-melt adhesive and a hot-melt pressure-sensitive adhesive; and to a preparation method of the petroleum resin.
