The invention relates to a method for determining the local probability (&Rgr;i Klopf) of an occurrence of super-knocking phenomena in a fuel-air mixture that is introduced into a combustion chamber of an internal combustion engine, in particular a supercharged spark-ignition engine, said method comprising the following steps: a) determining the local probability density (P) of a spatial temperature gradient (∂T/∂x) of an observed fuel-air mixture and a length (ℓ) which is associated with said spatial temperature gradient (∂T/∂x) and over which the respective temperature gradient (∂T/∂x) is substantially constant, the probability density (P) depending on at least one local turbulence parameter (k, <є>, <T'2>, <Z'2>) and on at least one local thermodynamic parameter (p, T, λ), b) determining the local probability (Pi Klopf) by integration of the local probability density (P) to form a local knocking probability. |
