A leak measuring apparatus consists of a source 64 of fluid under pressure supplied through a valve 69 and connected to the chamber 61 under test by conduit 62 which contains two valves 7, 44 in series, the valve 7 being connected to the source 64 and also providing a by-pass valve for a liquid indicator column 39 with a scale 70, and means for automatically closing valve 44 a predetermined time interval after the closing of the by-pass valve 7. In one embodiment the valves 7, 44, 69 comprise slide-valve mechanism, consisting of a casing 71, containing channels 74 ... 77 connected to conduit 62, U-tube 67, reservoir 64 and conduit 68 respectively, in which slides part 72 in having a groove 82 to co-operate with the channels 74 ... 77. Conduit 68 is connected to a fluid supply to replenish reservoir 64. As part 72 moves from left to right, valves 77, 76, 75 corresponding to valves 69, 7, 44 (Fig. 1) are closed in that order, the movement being controlled and timed by a dash-pot 87 actuated by a spring 90. A push-piece 98 restores the parts to initial position for the next operation. In another construction the valves 7 and 69 are mounted on a rod reciprocated by a cam which also starts time delay mechanism to close a diaphragm valve 44.</p> |
