An electric breaker circuit (10) for interrupting an electric load circuit (20) includes an input for connection to a power supply line (30) and an output for supplying electricity to the electric load circuit (20); a switch (S1a, S1b) arranged electrically between said input and said output for establishing the supply of electric power to the electric load circuit by closing the switch and interrupting the supply of electric power to the electric load circuit by opening the switch; means (5) for opening/closing said switch in response to an opening/closing command signal; means (3) for detecting the load impedance connected to the output of said electric breaker circuit; and means (4) for generating a closing command signal for closing said switch upon detection of a decrease of the load impedance from a high impedance value to a lower impedance value. A method of operating an electric breaker circuit includes the steps of detecting the load impedance connected to the output of the electric breaker circuit; and generating a closing command signal for closing the switch arranged electrically between an input and an output of the electric breaker circuit, upon detection of a decrease of the impedance of the electric load circuit from a high impedance value to a lower impedance value.
