A method for producing an image display device (1) by laminating an image display member (2) and a light-transmitting cover member (6) having formed therein a step (5) between the peripheral part and the principal surface part (4) by forming a light-shielding layer (3) on the peripheral part, with a light-transmitting resin layer (8) formed from a liquid optical resin composition (7) interposed therebetween, with the part of the light-transmitting cover member (6) on which the light-shielding layer (3) is formed being positioned on the image display member (2) side, wherein the resin dispenser (10) is moved from one edge to the other edge of the surface of the light-transmitting cover member (6) on which the light-shielding layer (3) is formed, and when applying the liquid optical resin composition (7) to the surface of the light-transmitting cover member (6) on which the the light-shielding layer (3) is formed, the quantity of the optical resin composition (7) is varied between the area above the principal surface (4) of the surface of the light-transmitting cover member (6) on which the light-shielding layer (3) is formed, and the area above the light-shielding layer (3). |
