<p>[Problem] In a storage system for backing up the data of an external device, to realize efficient deduplication elimination processing through the cooperation of the external device and a storage device. [Solution] Provided is a storage system that stores data from an external device in content units, and is provided with the following: a backup device that executes backup processing for generating backup data in content units for the data from the external device; and a storage device that is communicably connected to the backup device and that stores the backup data received from the backup device. The backup device determines whether the content has already been stored in the storage device by using first duplication determination information which is information for determining whether the content which is the backup data is already stored in the storage device. In a case where a first backup processing unit has determined that the content has not been stored in the storage device and a second backup processing unit of the storage device has determined, using second duplication determination information, that the content is stored in the storage device, the second backup processing unit transmits the second duplication determination information to the backup device, and the first backup processing section executes processing for inserting the received second duplication determination information into the first duplication determination information.</p> |
