SOLUTION: In this method for calculating the strength of the beam 40 which constitutes an underground section of a building undergoing the action of earth and water pressure from an outer periphery, a compressive force acting on the beam 40 by the earth and water pressure is calculated, and the strength of the beam 40 in the state of the action of the calculated compressive force on the beam 40 is calculated.
