The present invention relates to an apparatus and a method to wirelessly charge a portable terminal. An apparatus to wirelessly charge a portable terminal according to the present invention includes: a power unit which converts a power received from the outside to a voltage of a small size; a pad for a non-terminal contact; a wireless charger which has a chargeable pad that transmits the voltage converted by the power unit toward the portable terminal through electron induction; and a portable terminal which charges voltage into the battery of the portable terminal by inducing voltage through the electron induction by the non-terminal contact with the wireless charger. According to the present invention, a charging efficiency based on the charging area is indicated as a voltage level etc. and the charging efficiency value based on the movements of the location of the portable terminal within the pad for charging is compared and indicated so that the user can locate the portable terminal at the spot where the maximum charging efficiency is secured. Hence, the charging time for the portable terminal can dramatically be reduced.
