PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide an image forming apparatus capable of providing, even when using a recording sheet having a number of concaves and convexes on the surface, sufficient image density in the concave parts of the sheet surface, and suppressing blur on edges of character images and line images.SOLUTION: A secondary transfer power source 82 is configured to output a secondary transfer bias capable of forming, in a secondary transfer nip, an alternating electric field that alternately generates an electric field to give an electrostatic force directed from an intermediate transfer belt 21 side to a secondary transfer roller 26 side to a toner, and an electric field to give an electrostatic force directed from the secondary transfer roller 26 side to the belt side to the toner. An image forming unit 1T is provided to form a transparent toner layer to an area on the surface of the belt before approaching the secondary transfer nip and to which a plurality of colors of toner Y, M, C, and K forming a Y, M, C, K toner image are not adhered. |
