PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a method for efficiently producing various peptides such as a dipeptide having an acidic amino acid at N-terminals by a fermentation method.SOLUTION: Provided are: a polynucleotide such as a polynucleotide comprising a base sequence encoding Plm2 gene from Streptomyces plumbeus; a protein such as a protein comprising an amino acid sequence of Plm2 protein from Streptomyces plumbeus; an expression vector comprising the polynucleotide; a transformant comprising the expression vector; a production method of a peptide comprising producing a peptide from at least one kind of amino acid in the presence of the protein.
