The operating circuit has a conductive-connected switch (LS) in a coil that is configured to store energy temporarily through a diode and the LED line is discharged. A control unit configured to control the switch current (ILS) detected by the switch connected to a first measurement resistor (RShunt), the power supply voltage (Vbus) at a second measuring resistor (RVbusShunt ) and a measuring voltage (VLED) determined on the LED range to a third measuring resistance (RVLEDShunt) and configured to calculate the LED current (ILED) through the LED range.
