The present invention relates to an alarm device for vehicles approaching an intersection using V2X communication and a method thereof. The alarm device for vehicles approaching an intersection includes: a monitoring area setting unit which sets a monitoring area within a certain distance from an intersection using road data acquired from roadside devices around a vehicle; an approaching vehicle recognition unit which recognizes vehicles approaching the intersection within the monitoring area using surrounding vehicle data acquired from surrounding vehicles around the mentioned vehicle; a collision prediction unit which calculates the arrival time to the intersection of the mentioned vehicle and other approaching vehicles based on the position and the speed of the mentioned vehicle and other approaching vehicles and predicts collision situations between the mentioned vehicle and other approaching vehicles by comparing the arrival times to the intersection; and an alarm generation unit which sets off an alarm if a collision between the mentioned vehicle and other approaching vehicles is predicted by the collision prediction unit.
