PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a cylinder intake air amount estimating device for an internal combustion engine capable of performing calculation with high accuracy in real time with few relevant constants.SOLUTION: A cylinder intake air amount estimating device of an internal combustion engine includes: an AFS (air flow sensor) 2; means 22 for calculating a volume efficiency correction coefficient Kv as an index indicating an amount of air entering a cylinder; a physical model 25 obtained by modeling delay in response of an intake system; means 21 for calculating a cylinder intake air amount actually taken, by using an intake air amount Qa, the volume efficiency correction coefficient Kv, and the physical model 25. The volume efficiency correction coefficient Kv necessary for calculating the amount of air taken into the cylinder by using the response delay model of the intake system, is calculated by using the intake air amount Qa, an intake manifold density &rgr;b, and an intake manifold density variation &Dgr;&rgr;b. |
