PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide an image forming apparatus which excels in transfer efficiency and always yields a high-quality image by obtaining appropriate transfer voltage based on the resistance value of a recording medium measured by a recording medium resistance measuring means regardless of the kind of the recording medium. SOLUTION: In the image forming apparatus, passing time in a NIP between two rollers that are the recording medium resistance measuring means for measuring the resistance value of the recording medium is equal to passing time in a NIP between a transfer image carrier and a transfer member.
