<p>The invention relates to a process and a device for orbital welding, employed for welding metal bars and pipes to each other or to other metal components. According to the invention, the process ensures the welding of a bar or pipe (3) to a component (2) of a metal piece (1), the piece (1) together with the bar or pipe (3) forming an assembly by fastening them in the fastening position with the component (2), the whole assembly being subjected to a continuous and uniform rotation motion about an axis parallel to the rotation axis of the bar or pipe (3), followed by the actual welding in the gap of the joint to be welded, which is carried out by maintaining a welding pistol (4) in the same vertical welding position and integral with the bar or pipe (3), so that, as a consequence of the rotation of the piece (1) the pistol (4) describes an orbital motion around the joint to be welded. The claimed orbital welding device (6) comprises a horizontal plate (7) on which two plates are parallelly fixed at both ends, namely a first vertical plate (8) provided with a bearing (9) for mounting a system (10) for fastening a device (6) on the bar or pipe (3) to be welded, and a second vertical plate (11), on the horizontal plate (7), between the vertical plates (8 and 11) there being mounted a system (12) for positioning the welding pistol (4) as against the welding gap.</p> |
