PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a diesel engine capable of preventing dilution of lubricant and efficiently regenerating a diesel particulate filter in response to an operation state.SOLUTION: The diesel engine includes: an oxidation catalyst; the diesel particulate filter; means for detecting a differential pressure between the upstream side and downstream side of the diesel particulate filter; and control means for estimating an amount of a particulate material stacked on the diesel particulate filter based on the differential pressure and regenerating the diesel particulate filter based on the estimated amount. In regeneration control of the diesel particulate filter by the control means, whether or not operation time of an engine body has elapsed predetermined set time from start of operation is determined, and after lapse of the set time, operation is shifted to regeneration control by post injection of a fuel injection valve. |
