APPARATUS FOR DETECTING OVALITY OF HEAT EXCHANGER TUBE AND METHOD THEREOF

An apparatus for detecting ovality of heat exchanger pipe's cylindrical section comprises: a probe body which can rotate along the longitudinal direction of the heat exchanger pipe and the inner cylindrical direction of the heat exchanger pipe; a supporter which is installed on both ends of the probe body for supporting the linear movement and rotation of the probe body; a coil supporting part installed at a part of the probe body; and an eddy current coil comprising first and second coil units for detecting the ovality of the heat exchanger pipe's cylindrical section by measuring eddy current resistance. The first and second coil units are positioned at different places in the coil supporting part. The degree of ovality is detected by using the size difference between measured signals from the first and second coil units.
