PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a device and a method which, can be carried in the hand to be freely arranged either in a horizontal direction or a vertical direction for drilling, and can easily acquire data necessary for strength calculation.SOLUTION: A data acquisition device includes: drilling means for drilling a measured object with a drilling member; measuring means which is attached to the drilling means and measures a drilling distance by measuring an insertion length of the drilling member inserted into the measured object in the process of drilling; thrust detection means which is disposed between a grip section to be held by hand and the drilling means and detects a thrust in a drilling direction, including a force input in the drilling means from the grip section; and recording means which is connected to the measuring means and the thrust detection means and records the measured drilling distance and the detected thrust as data to be used for strength calculation of the measured object.
