PURPOSE: A composition containing black bean extract for preventing or treating neurodegenerative diseases is provided to protect and regenerate nerves. CONSTITUTION: A composition or for preventing or treating neurodegenerative diseases contains 15-25 wt% of delphinidin-3-glucoside, 65-80 wt% of cyanidine-3-glucoside, and 5-10 wt% of petunidin-3-glucoside. The composition additionally contains pharmaceutically acceptable carriers. A functional food composition for enhancing brain or cognitive function contains 15-25 wt% of delphinidin-3-glucoside, 65-80 wt% of cyanidine-3-glucoside, and 5-10 wt% of petunidin-3-glucoside. A method for manufacturing the composition comprises: a step of extracting black soybeans with water, organic solvent, or a mixture thereof to prepare black soybean extract; a step of fractioning the extract using water or a non-polar organic solvent; and a step of isolating and purifying delphinidin-3-glucoside, cyanidine-3-glucoside, and cyanidine-3-glucoside from the fraction. |
