COMPOSITE ARMOR WITH DISCRETE ELEMENTS

FIELD: weapons and ammunition.SUBSTANCE: composite armor comprises crushing-deflecting layer 1 and retaining layer 7. Said crushing-deflecting layer 1 consists of cylindrical discrete elements 2, 3 arranged perpendicular to armor plane. Cylindrical parts 3 have one top or two top and bottom convex faces 4 abutting on their cylindrical parts. Cavities 5 filled with polymer-based binder composition 6 are formed between every three adjacent discrete elements 2. Retaining layer 7 is made from aluminium alloy or steel. Crushing-deflecting layer 1 and retaining layer 7 are arranged with the gap 8 exceeding 1 mm or material with elasticity modulus at compression smaller than 40 GPa is fitted there between. Binder composition 6 is furnished with extra corundum or ceramic crumbs 9 that made a homogeneous mass.EFFECT: higher hardness of armor.3 dwg
