The device (1) has switching contact surfaces (21a, 21b) transferrable from an open position (O) into a closing position in a closing direction (S). The switching contact surfaces are held at a distance from counter contact surfaces (31a, 31b) of a switching contact arrangement (2) in the open position, and electrically conductively lie at the counter contact surfaces in the closing position. The switching contact surfaces are aligned inclined to the closing direction under a contact angle (alpha) ranging between 40 degrees and 50 degrees, preferably 45 degrees. An independent claim is also included for a method for switching a load circuit in an electric vehicle.
