<p>An exercise device for training, comprising an elongate bar 112 and means for supporting 114 the bar above the ground, the bar being surrounded by an outer cover 118. The bar may be circular or hexagonal and may be mounted vertically or horizontally. The bar may be suspended by detachable chains or ropes at both ends of the bar. The outer cover may be rotatably mounted on the bar, by using a friction reducing means which comprises a rigid casing 127 which comprises bearings. The outer cover may extend past the casing or the casing may extend past the outer cover. The outer cover may comprise multiple sections (fig. 3, 326), which are releasably mounted to the bar. There may be projecting portions (fig. 2, 224) extending from the outer core, which may resemble arms or legs. The projections may comprise a plastics core surrounded by a resiliently deformable material and extend at 45-90 degrees. The cover may taper from one end to the other, in a constant or stepped manner. Also included is a method wherein the device is used to train mixed martial arts wherein the user grasps the device with their arms and/or legs to support their own bodyweight and performs exercises whilst grasping the device (fig 4).</p> |
