A method for manufacturing an anti-glare film capable of controlling the cohesion state of particles not depending on the cohesion property of the particles and forming an anti-glare layer having a jagged surface form thereby. A coating solution which contains resins, particles, a thixotropy imparting agent, and a solvent and satisfies at least one aspect of the following condition (I) and (II) is applied on a transparent base material. A method for manufacturing an anti-glare film additionally comprises processes for generating shear and hardening. (I) In a range of Ti value of 1.2-3.5, the contribution rate (R2) is 0.95 or greater in the linear approximate expression between the amount of the added thixotropy imparting agent (x) and the Ti value (y). (II) In a range of Ti value of 1.2-3.5, the second coefficient (a) is a negative number in the polynomial approximate expression, y=ax^2+bx+c, between the amount of the added thixotropy imparting agent (x) and the Ti value (y). Ti value=beta1/beta2 beta1 : viscosity in shear rate of 20(1/s) beta2 : viscosity in shear rate of 200(1/s).
