Provided is an apparatus and method of detecting timing synchronization for a Fast Fourier Transform (FFT). The apparatus for detecting timing synchronization includes: a first sequence generator adapted to generate a plurality of first data sequences using a received signal; and a synchronization unit adapted to correlate the first data sequences with input second data sequences and determine a time point to perform an FFT on the received signal using the correlate results.
