PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To improve startability when starting at low temperature of a cylinder injection type engine.SOLUTION: When a predetermined low temperature condition is established when starting an engine 11, first of all, fuel injection and ignition are stopped and an exhaust valve 34 is operated for opening-closing to perform fuel pressure increase control for cranking the engine 11 until fuel pressure increases up to target fuel pressure, so that the fuel pressure is surely increased up to the target fuel pressure without causing a battery voltage shortage. The fuel injection and the ignition are stopped, opening-closing operation of the exhaust valve 34 is stopped, and the exhaust valve 34 is maintained in a valve closing state to perform cylinder temperature rise control for cranking the engine 11 until a predetermined period passes after performing the fuel pressure increase control, so that the compression end temperature is raised by raising the cylinder temperature (the intake temperature in a cylinder). Afterwards, the fuel injection and the ignition are performed, the exhaust valve 34 is operated for opening-closing, and the engine 11 is cranked, so that the engine 11 is started. |
