[Class 75 (i)] [See also Group XII] A dished disc 2 has a refractory inner lining 3 and a cylindrical extension 3<a> adapted to fit over and make a sliding joint with a cylindrical part of the furnace ; air preheated to a temperature sufficient to cause spontaneous combustion of the fuel is introduced through a central conduit 4 and either liquid or pulverized fuel is introduced through nozzles 5 surrounding the air conduit and directed towards the axis thereof. The invention is described as applied to a rotary melting furnace. |
