The purpose of the present invention is to enhance an authentication rate. A biometric authentication device according to an embodiment of the present invention has a positional alignment unit and a collation unit. The positional alignment unit aligns the positions of a region from which biometric information for registration is extracted and a region from which biometric information for authentication is extracted, by a predetermined method selected in accordance with a combination of outer shape information relating to the same biometric site included in both outer shape information for registration and outer shape information for authentication. The collation unit collates the biometric information for registration and the biometric information for authentication that have been positionally aligned by the positional alignment unit.
