<p>The invention relates to an optoelectronic component having a carrier (1) on which at least one first light emitting semiconductor chip (11) and a first light absorbing semiconductor chip (12) and connected in antiparallel, and at least one second light emitting semiconductor chip (21) and a second light absorbing semiconductor chip (22) connected in antiparallel, wherein the semiconductor chips (11, 12, 21, 22) are disposed on the carrier (1) such that light (14, 24) of each light emitting semiconductor chip (11, 21) falls on at least one of the light absorbing semiconductor chips (12, 22) that is not connected to the corresponding light emitting semiconductor chip (11, 21) and wherein the light absorbing semiconductor chips (12, 22) are implemented as protective diodes.
