<p>An ice protection system (40) comprises deicing zones (101-103) each including an envelope (111-113) defining an ice-protection area. Adjacent envelopes have spanwise edge regions (161,162,172,173) flanking shared interzone borders (160,170). The edge regions (161,162,172,173) are provided with nonlinear contours having features (166,167,176,177) which project-and-recess in a direction generally parallel to the airstream direction (A).
