PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To evade the hitting of a coolant which flows into accompanying with the opening of a valve for a thermostat to the temperature sensing part of the thermostat and the wall portion of a cylinder immediately after inflow.SOLUTION: A cooling device for an engine in which a thermostat 30 for limiting the inflow of a coolant from this inlet is set in the inlet 4a of the coolant to the water jacket 4 of a cylinder block 2 and a water jacket spacer 40 is stored in the water jacket 4 within the block is provided with a penetration hole 43 which is closed by the fact that the temperature sensing part 32a of this thermostat 30 is fitted into an area opposite to an inlet 4a in the water jacket spacer 40 when opening the valve of the thermostat 30. |
