Described herein are microfluidic devices, kits and methods for capturing, detecting and culturing, incubating or analyzing a target species from a biological fluid, e.g., whole blood. In some embodiments, the target species collected in the microfluidic devices described herein can be recovered or removed therefrom and transferred to a different container or device for further processing such as cell culture expansion, molecular analysis, genome sequencing and/or treatment, while the target species maintain active and/or viable. Embodiments of the microfluidic devices described herein can be used in combination with magnetic particles specific for the target species to facilitate separation of the target species from a biological fluid and/or recovery of the separated target species from the microfluidic device described herein. |
