PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To improve interaction of a user with a user interface of fitness equipment during exercise using the fitness equipment.SOLUTION: A method and exercise system obtains at least one parameter of ongoing exercise using a fitness equipment unit and, while a person is exercising, dynamically adjusts at least one operational characteristic of a user interface on the basis of the one parameter of ongoing exercise.
