PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a liquid crystal display device that can reduce fatigue upon monitoring a three-dimensional image by time division drive.SOLUTION: The liquid crystal display device comprises: a display panel DP that has a plurality of liquid crystal pixels arrayed in a matrix; an illumination part BL that is arranged to face the display panel and can switch over light illuminating the display panel to two directions; and a driving control part (5) that controls an image display on a display panel and a turn-on/turn-off of a light source of the illumination part. The driving control part allows a three-dimensional mode to display left and right parallax images consisting of a three-dimensional display in a time division and to control to switch a light source of the illumination part such that the light illuminating the display panel is emitted in a predetermined direction, and allows an independent mode to turn on the light source of the illumination part in response to a display of one parallax image of the parallax images and turn off the light source of the illumination part in response to a display of another parallax image. |
