PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide an electric motor which achieves energy saving while maintaining the performance and the costs.SOLUTION: An electric motor includes a stator formed into a frame shape. The electric motor includes a rotor 26 that is rotatably disposed at the interior of the stator. The electric motor includes a magnetic sensor 27 detecting positions of magnetic poles of the rotor 26 at the one end side of the stator. The rotor 26 includes a rotary shaft 34. The rotor 26 has multiple through holes 35d arranged along an axial direction of the rotary shaft 34 and includes a cylindrical rotor core 35 integrally attached to the rotary shaft 34. The rotor 26 includes multiple permanent magnets 36 which are inserted into the respective through holes 35d of the rotor core 35 to be fixed thereto and has parts protruding from one end of the rotor core 35 in the fixed state. The rotor 26 includes a cover part 37 covering the permanent magnets 36 and attached to the one end of the rotor core 35, the cover part 37 in which at least a part of an outer peripheral part faces the magnetic sensor 27.
