A light transmission apparatus converts a plurality of transmitted signals, which have been transmitted via a plurality of lanes, to a multicarrier signal, and transmits the multicarrier signal. The light transmission apparatus comprises a controller and a signal processing unit. The controller generates, on the basis of the bit rate of the transmitted signal of each lane and the possible transmission amount of each subcarrier, allocation information representative of the allocation of each subcarrier to the respective lane. The signal processing unit converts the plurality of transmitted signals to the multicarrier signal in accordance with the allocation information generated by the controller.
